Student demonstration in Riau was welcomed by policewomen by distributing flowers

Commemorating the 77th anniversary of the Indonesian Policewomen, the ranks of the Riau Regional Police officers took a humanist action while securing the student demonstration in front of the Riau DPRD, Pekanbaru. They distributed flowers to students as a symbol of brotherhood and peace, which was welcomed positively by the participants of the action. In the demonstration, students conveyed a number of demands, including the exemption of students who were arrested during the action in Jakarta, the investigation of the repressive actions of the apparatus, the abolition of the DPR allowance, and the acceleration of the ratification of the asset grabbing bill.

Students’ demands were received by the Chairman of the Riau DPRD Kaderismanto and Pekanbaru Police Chief Commissioner Pol. Jeki Rahmat Mustika, SIK, MH Demo took place in an orderly and peaceful manner which was closed with a shake between students and the authorities. The Pekanbaru Police Chief also appreciated a conducive action and invited students to keep the situation peaceful.
