BREBES, (Konntroversinews), – The National Food Agency (Bapanas) is increasingly monitoring rice price movements in the Central Java market in order to ensure that prices do not exceed the Highest Retail Price (HET).
The latest action was carried out by Bapanas together with the Brebes Police Food Task Force at a number of rice sales points, including the Main Market and supermarkets in Brebes, on Saturday, October 25 2025.
The inspection, which was led directly by the Main Secretary of Bapanas, Sarwo Edhy, involved the Head of Operations for the Brebes Police, Kompol Suraedi, as well as officials from the local Agriculture Service. The aim is to prevent fraudulent practices of traders who take profits beyond reasonable limits.
“From the inspection results, conditions are quite good. No traders were found selling above the HET, and prices are relatively stable,” explained Sarwo Edhy.
On the other hand, the representative of the Food Task Force, Kompol Suraedi, stated that this strict monitoring would continue, especially towards the end of the year.
Police Commissioner Suraedi emphasized the importance of synergy between agencies to control distribution and take action against violations, in order to ensure food stability in the Brebes area.
“The synergy of action will continue to ensure that people get a fair price for rice,” he explained.
With this joint inspection, Bapanas and the Food Task Force hope that price stability and rice supply will remain maintained, and that traders and the public will both benefit in the food distribution chain.
