Kuningan, Konntroversinews | The lifting of the housing moratorium in two sub-districts in Kuningan Regency sparked controversy and public debate. The flurry of news about the pros and cons encouraged a number of community organizations (mass organizations) and media representatives to submit a hearing letter to Commission 1 of the Kuningan DPRD.
On Friday (21/11/2025) at a cafe and restaurant in Kuningan, the representative of the Gibas mass organization, Bung Manap, said that his party together with the media alliance would immediately send a letter for the hearing.
“We want to ask the Regional Government to clearly explain the results of the study, analysis and considerations that are the basis for the Regent to revoke the moratorium. Don’t let this decision actually have a negative impact on society or violate regulations. Don’t just for the sake of investment that benefits oligarchs, you end up breaking the existing order with arguments A, B, C, D,” he said.
Media representative, Bang Rokhim Gendrong, added that his party also needs official and transparent information so that the news conveyed to the public does not cause further polemics.
“The local government should not just say that it has carried out studies and analyzes for a long time, but not provide detailed and valid data. We want to ensure that this decision does not harm the community, does not damage the environment, and does not violate regulations,” he said.
He also mentioned that the previous Kuningan Regent was very consistent in maintaining the moratorium, not even wavering despite various attempts to revoke it. “He is very istikomah, has strong principles,” he added.
In line with this, Gamas representative, Bang Moris, stated that this hearing was important as a form of social control over government policies.
“We want to see a complete explanation regarding the regional government’s study, analysis and considerations in lifting this moratorium. We also want to know what steps will be taken by Commission 1 of the Kuningan DPRD as the people’s representative in defending the interests of the community,” he said.
According to him, investment is not an excuse to ignore regulations, especially if it has the potential to harm society in the future. “This hearing is part of our commitment to overseeing government policy,” he concluded. ***
