BRASS, Konntroversinews | There are approximately 860 Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah (MDT) in Kuningan Regency. However, it is considered that the existence of MDT has not received optimal attention from the Regional Government, both in terms of policy, budget and infrastructure.
This condition sparked a strong response from the Kuningan Regency Joint Communication Forum of Mass Organizations and NGOs (FKGOL). This was conveyed by the Head of the FKGOL Barracks, Kang Nana Rusdiana, S.IP, on Sunday (21/12/2025).
According to Nana, MDT is an important part of the world of education which is based on religious values. MDT plays a role in shaping children’s character so that they have noble, ethical character and have a strong warrior mentality as the nation’s next generation.
“We must fight for MDT, because this is where children are taught moral values, ethics and morals. This is an important foundation for the nation’s future,” he stressed.
Nana also reminded that Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 2 of 2008 concerning Compulsory Diniyah Takmiliyah Education is not a policy product that was born out of thin air. He admitted that he was directly involved in the process of fighting for this regional regulation when he was still in the DPRD.
“Regulation No. 2 of 2008 must really be implemented, not just be a display or decoration on paper,” he said.
He emphasized that the Kuningan Regency Education Office and Ministry of Religion as implementers of the Regional Regulation must be consistent and responsible in carrying out the mandate of the regulation.
Furthermore, Nana highlighted the ethical and moral crisis that is currently affecting policy makers. According to him, this condition actually emphasizes the importance of education based on religious values from an early age.
“In the midst of an ethical and moral crisis, MDT is the main bulwark in producing future cadres for the nation who are moral, ethical and have a warrior mentality with a strong religious foundation,” he added.
On the other hand, Nana assesses that the development and improvement of formal education infrastructure has often received the attention of the central and regional governments. Meanwhile, the world of MDT education is often neglected.
“Many Madrasah Diniyah buildings are in poor condition. Operational funds are very minimal. This is a serious question, is it true that Kuningan still deserves to be called a religious area?” he quipped.
He also revealed a number of other problems, such as the grant funds not yet being disbursed to FKDT as the MDT organization, the MDT certificate program as a requirement for elementary school students entering junior high school not yet running, as well as damage to MDT infrastructure in various regions.
Nana emphasized that the Regent of Kuningan as the leader and ‘father’ of the entire world of education in the region must take a firm stance towards the implementers of Regional Regulation no. 2 of 2008.
“If the Regent of Kuningan is firm in issuing a circular regarding the implementation of this Regional Regulation, I am sure that the Education Office and the Kuningan Ministry of Religion will immediately follow up and implement it,” he said.
According to him, enforcing this regional regulation is a collective homework to be in line with the motto Religious Brass.
“This is our collective duty to create a generation of nation that is ethical, moral, and based on strong religious values. So that in the future national leaders will be born who are devoted to God Almighty, love their people, and serve the nation and state as a field of charity and worship,” concluded Nana. ***
