CIREBON, Konntroversinews | The Cirebon City Government received a working visit from the Minister of the Environment of the Republic of Indonesia, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, in order to review the readiness and performance of urban environmental management, Friday (26/12/2025). This visit is an important momentum for the City of Cirebon to evaluate its cleanliness strategy in order to achieve the target of achieving the Adipura trophy.
In his inspection at Cirebon Station, the Minister of Environment gave special appreciation to the waste management in this public area which was considered very clean and orderly. However, he also provided strategic notes for the Cirebon City Government to improve overall waste management performance at the city level.
The Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, emphasized that the involvement of all levels of regional government and the community is very crucial. He hopes that there will be extraordinary steps from the Cirebon City Government to boost waste management capacity, the value of which is currently considered to still need to be increased.
”Of course, greater efforts are needed to handle waste in Cirebon City. For this reason, everyone needs to work together to increase waste management capacity,” said Hanif.
In response to this directive, the Mayor of Cirebon, Effendi Edo, expressed his full commitment to immediately following up on the notes from the ministry. He acknowledged that the city’s cleanliness assessment percentage is currently at 54 percent, while the minimum requirement to achieve Adipura is 60 percent, or ideally reaching 70 percent.
”We really want to achieve Adipura again. Currently our figure is still at 54 percent, it must be at least 60 percent. There is just a little more left. Next year, we will improve everything to achieve this target,” he said.
Furthermore, the Mayor explained that although there are still deficiencies in the city’s cleanliness area, Final Disposal Site (TPA) facilities have shown positive developments. The main focus in the future is to improve the upstream waste transportation and processing system so that the pile of rubbish on the streets can be significantly minimized.
The Cirebon City Government also plans to strengthen the existence of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (TPS 3R) Waste Processing Sites.
“Apart from infrastructure, community involvement through the RW level is acknowledged to have started, but will continue to be optimized,” he explained.
Collaboration between the Cirebon City Government and related agencies such as the TNI/Polri will also be strengthened to ensure that this cleanliness movement becomes an inherent culture among the citizens of Cirebon City.
With technical support from the Ministry of the Environment and commitment from all levels of society, the Cirebon City Government is optimistic that it can improve environmental cleanliness standards.
“Hopefully the achievement target of at least 60-70 percent next year will not only bring home the Adipura trophy, but also create a healthier and more comfortable city ecosystem for all residents,” hoped the Mayor. ***
