Mayor Calls DWP the Main Pillar of Family Resilience in the Digital Era

Cirebon, Konntroversinews, Com. – The role of Dharma Wanita Perempuan (DWP) has now transformed beyond just being an organization for ASN wives. In the midst of the complexity of the challenges of the times, the Cirebon City DWP stands as the main bastion of family resilience as well as a driving force for social welfare which has a direct impact on regional stability. This was the main highlight at the peak of the commemoration of the 26th anniversary of the Cirebon City DWP which was held at City Hall, Tuesday (23/12/2025).

Present accompanied by the Acting Regional Secretary, Sumanto, Cirebon Mayor Effendi Edo emphasized that DWP is a strategic partner that determines the quality of human resources in Cirebon City. This momentum also feels special because it is close to Mother’s Day, emphasizing the position of women as “anchor” figures who balance domestic affairs and contributing to city development.

“I am well aware that the duties of husbands as state civil servants within the Cirebon City Government are very difficult. However, this task becomes lighter thanks to the moral support and comfort that mothers build in their households. Without the prayers and sincerity of a mother, I am sure that development in this city will not run smoothly,” said the Mayor.

Entering its 26th year, DWP is required to mature to respond to real challenges in 2026, especially regarding the flow of digitalization. The Mayor hopes that DWP members will not only be spectators of change, but will be able to become the main filter in the house. The role of mothers is considered very crucial in accompanying children so that they maintain strong character and noble manners even though they live in an era of fast-paced technology.

The issue of emotional closeness was also an important point raised. The Mayor reminded that in the current era, the biggest threat is not physical distance, but the loss of quality interactions within the family due to devices.

“DWP is expected to be able to spearhead the movement to maintain household harmony as the foundation of a healthy society,” he said.

Not only a matter of character, strengthening the family economy is a mission assigned to DWP in the coming year. The Mayor encourages this organization to become a forum for financial literacy and creative innovation for its members. According to him, economic independence at the household scale will automatically strengthen the economic structure of Cirebon City at a macro level.

“DWP must be a forum for exchanging knowledge, starting from how to manage household finances intelligently to creating creative innovations. If every family in Cirebon City is economically independent, then the economic foundation of our city will be stronger,” he added.

On the other hand, the Mayor also sent a humanist message so that mothers should pay attention to their mental and physical health. He emphasized that a happy mother is the key to an optimistic family. The Cirebon City Government is committed to continuing to support every DWP program that is oriented towards women’s empowerment and family health. In closing, the Mayor invited all DWP members to make this organization a field of service.
