POPKOTA 2025 Successfully Becomes an Event for Cirebon City Athletes

CIREBON, Kontroversinews,Com.– The Mayor of Cirebon, Effendi Edo, officially closed the series of activities for the 2025 Cirebon City Student Sports Week (POPKOTA) at GOR Bima, Friday (28/11/2025).

This closing marks the end of a series of matches that took place over the last few days and were attended by students from various schools in Cirebon City.

“Over the past few days, we have witnessed healthy, sportsmanlike and enthusiastic matches from the best sons and daughters of Cirebon City,” said the Mayor.

The mayor expressed his high appreciation to all parties who have contributed to the success of POPKOTA 2025.

“Of course, I would like to express my highest appreciation to the Youth and Sports Department, the Committee, and all parties involved, who have organized POPKOTA 2025 successfully, orderly and lively,” he said.

The Mayor also expressed special thanks to teachers and parents who are the main pillars of children’s success.

“The support, motivation and sacrifices that have been given are unlimited energy to encourage the athletes to achieve their best achievements,” he added.

The overall champions of POPKOTA Cirebon 2025 from elementary school to high school/vocational school and equivalent have been announced at this closing. For elementary school level at the District Coordinator level, First Place was won by Kesambi District, followed by Second Place in Harjamukti District and Third Place in Kejaksan District.

Meanwhile, for the SMP/MTs level, first place was won by SMPN 4, second place by SMPN 5, and third place by SMPN 1. At the SMA/SMK/MA level, SMAN 6 won first place, followed by SMAN 1 as second place and SMAN 4 as third place. This achievement is proof that the quality of Cirebon City’s young athletes continues to improve and they are ready to compete at a higher level.

To the students, the Mayor gave an inspirational message. According to him, it is not just about how many medals are won, but more deeply is the process of truly learning character.

“POPKOTA is an important moment. This sport teaches us good values, such as sportsmanship, discipline, hard work and the spirit of never giving up,” he said.

Not to forget, the Mayor emphasized that all POPKOTA participants were winners. “Keep practicing. Don’t make this result the end, but rather the starting point to continue honing your skills,” he said.

For the medal winners, a bigger challenge awaits at a higher level, namely the Regional Student Sports Week (POPDA). The Mayor hopes that the Youth and Sports Department will immediately prepare intensive coaching so that Cirebon City athletes are able to compete at provincial and national levels.

At the end of his speech, the Mayor hoped that this activity would not only be successful in terms of implementation, but would also be able to capture and map the potential of young athletes in the City of Cirebon. The goal, he said, is to ensure that Cirebon City always has quality and outstanding athletes.

“Hopefully the spirit of POPKOTA 2025 will continue to burn and continue to give birth to a young generation that is healthy, intelligent and accomplished,” he concluded.
