Cirebon City Government Supports Formation of Formula, Strengthens Synergy of Ulama and Umara

Cirebon, Konntroversinews | The Cirebon City Government fully supports strengthening the role of ulama in the social structure of society. This is proven by the warm welcome from city government officials for the formation of the Greater Cirebon Ulama Deliberation Forum (Formula). For the Cirebon City Government, the existence of this forum is not just a gathering place for religious leaders, but a strategic partner in formulating public policies that have a strong moral and ethical foundation. It is hoped that this support can create a harmonious synergy between umara and ulama for the sake of more measurable and blessed regional progress.

Concrete steps for this support can be seen in the agenda of Gathering Ulama and Establishing a Greater Cirebon Formula which was held at Resto Bandar Djakarta Cirebon, Monday (16/2/2026). Deputy Mayor of Cirebon, Siti Farida Rosmawati, was present in person to give her highest appreciation. According to him, the government is very aware that magnificent physical development will not mean much if it is not accompanied by moral guidance from kyai and ulama.

In his speech, the Deputy Mayor said that the Formula was an important momentum for the government to sit back and listen to the views of religious leaders.

“In the noble traditions of Cirebon, synergy between Ulama and Umara is the main foundation for development. We are fully aware that the public policies we implement will not have spirit if we do not receive moral guidance from the kyai and ulama,” he stressed in front of the religious figures present.

He added that at the crossroads of the times, technological advances sometimes exceed people’s mental readiness. The presence of Formula is expected to be able to integrate spiritual values ​​into accelerated development, so that the modernization taking place in Cirebon City continues to run on the rails of ethics and noble religious values.

Furthermore, the Deputy Mayor also highlighted pressing issues such as environmental sustainability and economic transformation. He hopes that the ulama through Formula can provide an environmental jurisprudence perspective to build collective awareness of coastal communities.

“We need guidance from ulama so that this economic transition does not leave behind those who are weak, but instead becomes a means of economic empowerment for the people based on a just sharia ecosystem,” he said.

The Cirebon City Government also pays great attention to the development of artificial intelligence technology. In front of the Masyayikh, the Deputy Mayor expressed his hope that Formula would provide Taujihat regarding cyber space ethics. He believes that science without ethical control will give rise to social unrest, and Formula is present as an oasis of clarity of thinking amidst this current of change.

The Cirebon City Government’s commitment to being a “student” who always learns from the ulama’s fatwas was also emphasized. The Deputy Mayor stated that the city’s development vision would be impossible to achieve without the active involvement of ulama as a moral compass.

“We hope that this forum will produce real references for overcoming poverty and improving the quality of education through the revitalization of Islamic boarding schools and moderate religious literacy,” he hoped.

This event was also attended by the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, who gave more weight to the declaration of this forum. In his written statement, he expressed his gratitude for the birth of Formula as a forum for collective awareness to unite movements (tauhidul harakah), equalize perceptions (tauhidul a’ra), and unite ranks (tauhidul shuhuf) in facing the challenges of an increasingly complex era.

“Hopefully the presence of the Greater Cirebon Formula will be able to answer the problems of the people. It’s time for ulama to build connectivity and synergize in spreading Islam and caring for nationality,” said Ma’ruf Amin.

This meeting closed with the first deliberation session which discussed the organization’s strategic steps forward.
